How old do I have to be to rent a vehicle?
To rent a vehicle from Crazy Car Rentals, all renters must be a minimum of 21 years of age at the commencement of the rental and have held a valid drivers license for minimum period of 12 months.
What driver’s license do I require to hire a vehicle?
Crazy Car Rentals accepts current Australian and International licenses. Valid driver’s license must be in English with a photograph of the customer and must not be expired for the entire rental period. If your valid driver’s license is in another language other than English and no English translation is provided at the back of your license in numerical or alphabetical order, you require to obtain a certified translation in English or an international drivers permit accompany with your international driver’s license. Crazy Car Rentals will not accept an electronic copy of your driver’s license, please have your physical license upon collection.
What do I require to collect a Crazy Car Rentals vehicle?
-Valid Driver’s License – held for a minimum period of 12 months. - Valid Form of Payment – Debit or Credit Card Payment - Proof of Address, for example an official document such as a utility bill or lease agreement provided either electrically or in hard copy.
Do I need a security deposit to rent a vehicle at Crazy Car Rentals?
At the commencement of your rental period, in addition to paying your rental charges, we require a security deposit to cover any additional charges such as fuel, damage recovery fee and toll charges during your rental. Security Deposits range from $200.00 to $1,100.00 depending on the vehicle type and the payment type. Usually, a credit card payment will hold a $200.00 security deposit where a debit card usually incurs a higher deposit. The plastic physical debit or credit card must be in the name of the driver and provided when collecting the vehicle along with the drivers license. The rental location will accept all major credit cards and Visa or Mastercard debit cards, please note we do not accept cash deposits. The security deposit will be taken and refunded upon return of the vehicle in accordance with our terms and conditions of your rental agreement. The refund to your account will take approximately 7 business days. Contact our team for more information.
What is the minimum rental period I can rent the vehicle?
All our vehicles are hired for a minimum of 24 hours, you can hire a vehicle for less than 24 hours, but you will be still charged for 24 hours.
Can I add an additional driver to my rental?
Additional Drivers are allowed to drive the vehicle, but they must be approved and authorized by Crazy Car Rentals team upon collection. Each driver must be included in the rental agreement. Must meet all age requirements and comply with our terms and conditions. Present themselves along with the main renter with a valid drivers license at the time of collection. An additional charge may apply for each additional driver, check with your branch.
What forms of payment are accepted for renting a vehicle?
Upon collection of the vehicle, you require to pay for your rental. Crazy Car Rentals currently accept all Visa, Mastercard, AMEX and Diners cards. The Credit or Debit card must be bank issued in the name of the authorized driver and must be present during collection otherwise payment will not be accepted. Cash is not accepted for any payments.
Can I pay for the rental car of another individual?
Unfortunately, no, the renter cannot provide a debit or credit card that belongs to another individual for their own use. If you wish to pay a rental car for another individual, you can rent the vehicle to your name and have the driver you want to drive the vehicle as an additional driver, but further charges may apply for the additional driver.
How do I change or cancel my reservation?
If you have not yet collected your vehicle and you have reserved through Crazy Car rentals website you can alter your dates, times, vehicle availability prion to your collection. If you collected your vehicle and wish to keep it longer, you must contact the location where you picked up the vehicle so we can manage your request before the due back date and time.
Can I return the vehicle outside the location operating hours?
Yes, our locations allow returns after hours and will have a procedure in place for vehicle returns outside of normal operating hours therefore, please contact your preferred location to discuss after hours return and the exact procedure. A vehicle that is returned after operating hours will not be inspected by Crazy Car Rentals representative until the next day therefore the renter remains responsible until the vehicle can be inspected by our representative.
Can I extend the rental period?
We are happy to extend your rental period at time of pick up or during your rental period subject to vehicle availability. Simply contact us 03 9326 1916 between 8:00am – 6:00pm or visit our nearest branch. When extending a rental period, the branch will need to charge your credit on debit card for the extra period.
Can I return the rental vehicle early, will I get a refund?
If you return the rental vehicle early, you will be only charged for the number of days you had the vehicle with the rates subject to change accordantly with the number of days of hire. For more information contact your preferred location.
If I return the rental vehicle late, will you charge me an extra day?
At Crazy Car Rentals, we allow 45-minute grace period for returning the rental vehicle at your pickup location, after that an additional day will be charged. If you are experiencing a delay for any reason, please notify the branch you rented the vehicle.
What refueling options do I have?
All vehicles will be full of fuel or must be refueled to the same level when you collect it. If you are running late returning the rental car or choose not to refuel the vehicle at the petrol station before returning, we can refuel the vehicle on your behalf, but a service fee will apply.
Do I have unlimited kilometers?
Many of our rental vehicles offer unlimited mileage at our branches. Typically, more premium, larger or specialty vehicles is less likely to come with unlimited mileage, but you can check your mileage during the booking process to see if your selected vehicle class or location comes with unlimited mileage or the allowed mileage per category.
Do you offer any long-term Rental Discounts?
At Crazy Car Rentals, our rates are subject to change accordantly with the duration of your rental period. In other words, the longer you hire the rental vehicle the cheaper the rate will get. Visit your preferred location or contact us if you need a rental car longer than 30 days.
Do you offer one-way rentals?
Unfortunately, we do not offer one-way rentals but rentals that are returned to a different location within the same city may be subject to a relocation fee. For more information contact your preferred location.
Can I drive the rental Vehicle anywhere in Australia?
Unfortunately, not all roads are included in our allowed areas of use. Please check with your preferred location for any restrictions and more information in relation to cross- border policies. Restrictions apply for rental vehicles not to be driven on unsealed roads whether is gravel or dirt road, rivers, beaches and on the snow.
Can I reduce my damage liability for the rental vehicle?
All our vehicles include our Standard Cover which limits the loss or damage lability payable by the renter in the event of a loss or damage to the vehicle. You can choose to reduce or waive your damage liability by purchasing an additional protection option for an extra daily fee. At Crazy Car Rentals, we offer two protection options the Ultimate protection cover and Premium Protection cover. The Ultimate Protection cover is offered at the start of your rental period for an extra daily fee. As a result, if the renter accepts to purchase the ultimate protection, Crazy Car rentals will reduce renter’s liability for any loss of, or damage to the rental vehicle at a lower amount depending on the type of the vehicle and subject to our rental terms and conditions. The Premium Protection cover reduces the renter’s liability to zero, please refer to our terms and conditions as some exclusions may apply.
Do I require to check the condition of the vehicle before I leave the branch?
Yes, we will inspect and examine the rental vehicle before you leave our branch for any visible defect and note it on your Rental Agreement, feel free to take some photos of the vehicle before you leave or after you return the vehicle.
Can I rent a baby seat or a child seat or GPS system?
Yes, we can offer you a baby or child seat or GPS/ navigation system at an additional fee per day to your rental. You can reserve your baby seat or any other optional extras during your online booking and find out the cost involved or simply visit your nearest branch. Please be aware, we are unable to install child seats in vehicles, the renter will need to fit the seat, however we will provide the manual for proper installation, Crazy Car Rentals take no responsibility for the incorrect or unsafe installation of your seat.
What happens if I get an infringement or parking fine?
A traffic infringement will be issued when our road rules are not followed by the driver, including speeding, red light camera, failure to adhere driving in line marking, driving in a bus or transit lane, failing to adhere to warning lights and bells on a railway crossing, littering, failing to purchase parking tickets, not parking in the direction of traffic and exceeding a parking time limit and disobey no stopping sign/clearway, park on nature strip and any other related offences. Please be aware if we receive an infringement or a parking fine and payment has not been made prior the due date of the fine, we will complete a statutory declaration and nominate the fine to you and it will be sent out to the address you provided to us. A further administration fee of $60.00 will be charged to your card provided at the time of the rental.
What happens if I drive on toll zone road?
We have a major number of toll roads in Australia, as a result, our vehicles are equipped with eTag devices to make your trip easier and have peace of mind. The toll charges vary upon the road used and the distance of your journey. At Crazy Car Rentals, we will deduct any apparent toll charges from your security deposit before we refund the amount to you. Toll charges includes an administration fee of $3.00 per toll. Please be aware, toll charges can be delayed by up to a month therefore we may charge your credit or debit card at a later stage, if we become aware that you have more outstanding tolls than what we initially charged you. We will provide you with a report providing the time, the date, and the registration number which that will indicate if you were the driver responsible for the toll charges.
What happens if leave something in the vehicle?
If you become aware that you have left an item in the rental car, please contact the office you returned the vehicle immediately and we will hold the item upon your arrival. We will not hold into lost items more than 14 days therefore contact our office to discuss your options.
What should I do if I have an accident?
In the unlucky event of an accident, you must contact us immediately or let us know within 24 hours if you have been in an accident. Contact the police if it’s necessary and the emergency services in the event where anyone is injured. Write down names, addresses, driver’s license details, registration number, photos of the scene and contact numbers of people involved, witnesses and police if attend the scene. If the vehicle isn’t drivable and police arrange to be towed, make sure the vehicle is safe, and get the name, contact number of the tow truck driver. You will need to visit the location you picked up the vehicle from to fill out the accident report form. We do not authorise any vehicle repairs conducted outside of our formal Crazy Car Rentals approval.
What if I have a breakdown or in need of roadside assistance?
All our customers will receive standard roadside assistance that covers any breakdown that comes from a mechanical fault or error that may occur during your rental period including any cost caused of the mechanical fault such as towing cost. In the event that you require a roadside assistance caused by error or driver negligence including lost keys, punctured tyres, running out of fuel, change a flat tire, fuel delivery, jump starting your car if the battery is run flat because you left the lights on or any other reason caused by the renter negligence you will be charged with a call out fee, administration fee and any other cost involved replacing any item to its original stage such as keys or even pay for the car rental until a new set of keys is available. You can purchase at Crazy Car Rentals, a Premium Roadside Assistance that cost $8.50 per day that will cover any at fault incidents and have a peace of mind if anything goes wrong. Can I tow using the rental vehicle?
No, the vehicle cannot be used to tow, if you use the vehicle for this purpose, you will be breaching our Rental Terms and Conditions and therefore your rental agreement will be immediately terminated, and you will be responsible for any damages caused by you, out of your own pocket.
Why rental rates change so often?
Unfortunately, we don’t have set rates, our rates are subject to change same as the airline tickets. If you book in advance, you will avoid paying higher rates in busy periods. Check our availability online or visit your nearest location.
Do I require to clean the rental vehicle?
Yes, you require to make sure the rental vehicle returns to our location reasonable clean, tidy, and empty of rubbish otherwise you may be subject to a cleaning fee.
Can I guarantee the make, model, and colour of the vehicle I hire?
All our vehicles are subject to availability. Unfortunately, we cannot always guarantee the make or model and colour of the vehicle as we have number of different models under the same category. If you require a specific, make or model or colour contact our friendly team and we will do our best to assist you.
